Buddy is an 8-year-old chocolate lab mix who has lost loved ones to cancer. The Denver-based Morris Animal Foundation launched the Canine Cancer Campaign to help scientists worldwide prevent, treat and ultimately cure cancer in dogs. This year the campaign is inviting dog lovers and friends to participate in the K9 Cancer Walk at Elk Grove, California on May 7 to raise awareness of canine cancer and raise funds for research that will develop prevention strategies and test new treatments. Last year, nearly 700 participants rallied to celebrate canine cancer survivors and memorialize those who have died. The event raised more than $61,000 for research. This year the K9 Cancer Walk at Elk Grove, California is aimed at raising $75,000.
